Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
You got invited to go out tonight with your girlfriends for dinner at the awesome new restaurant in town! Now it’s time to put an outfit together, so you choose a great pair of flattering jeans, your favorite top, and a sweater to match. Then you pick out a great pair of shoes and put some jewelry with the outfit. Looking in the mirror, you can really admire how well it all looks and you can’t help but smile.
A great and well put together outfit can make you feel beautiful, confident, and ,if you’re really lucky, comfortable too. The same is true when we outfit ourselves with all of the characteristics in this verse. This example is a really great one to relate to. When you clothe yourself in a warm robe, it envelopes you and covers you completely. Challenge yourself to “clothe” yourself in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience every day as if they were individual pieces of your outfit for the day. Really let them envelope you and bask in them. Show off your spiritual “outfit” to anyone you see and let everyone know how great they look! Maybe they’ll be inspired to “try them on” for themselves.
